Ljubno is in the air, Author: Jože Mermal, President of the FIS Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup Honorary Committee, Ljubno 2015 and President of the Management Board and CEO of BTC
Each year the Ladies’ Ski Jumping World Cup competition in Ljubno brings a bigger smile to my face, since the event has become somewhat of a movement and not just another sports event. The competitions in Ljubno have attracted more than half a million Slovene TV-viewers, while the number of fans attending the event in Ljubno has constantly been growing. 2014 is also the year of the first Slovene women’s victory in ski jumping World Cup competitions; we are also thinking about expanding the ski jumping centre. We are pleased to have helped women’s ski jumping break ground and find its place among the main Slovenian sports, and to become a part of the Olympic sports family from 2014 onwards. It just so happens that the FIS calendar for the season 2014/2015 rewarded Ljubno with the competitions on Valentine’s Day in 2015, which nicely symbolises the love and endeavours we shared on the path over the last four years. Such events could hardly be successful without strong willpower and passion of individuals, who selfishly devote hundreds of hours in the preparation of one of the best World Cup competitions, receiving much praise from abroad, and our partners, who time and time again show that Slovenes are well capable of building great stories. And this is just the beginning. The BTC Company believes that we have again succeeded in writing an important story, which in the future will bring much joy and passionate fans, and will result in giving us more great talents in our beloved sport. Dear readers, it pleases us to see all of you included in this fantastic story of creating history and future. Ljubno is most definitely in the air! In the air, since each year we impatiently wait to see our girls jump even farther through the air, filled with the love for ski jumping.
